A floating concert bridging Amsterdam and New York

NEW AMSTERDAM CONCERTS

From Amsterdam’s canals to the East River

A Concert Shaped by the City

Since 1982, Amsterdam’s canals have formed the stage for world-class classical music. The Prinsengracht Concert became a cultural icon by turning the city itself into a concert hall, broadcast live and experienced by millions. In 2026, this tradition continues in New York City. The New Amsterdam Concert brings the same spirit to the East River, where music, water, and urban space come together in a shared cultural moment.

Cultural legacy since 1982

More than four decades of classical music performed on the water, deeply rooted in Amsterdam’s cultural life.

Shared on a global stage

Broadcast and experienced by millions, connecting cities, audiences, and cultures through music.

Amsterdam’s Cultural Symbol

The Prinsengracht Concert

For more than four decades, the Prinsengracht Concert has transformed Amsterdam’s canals into a concert hall.

Classical music is performed on the water, with the city as its audience and backdrop, creating a shared cultural experience broadcast far beyond the canals themselves.

To carry this tradition beyond Amsterdam, a different kind of stage is needed.
PROOF OF CONCEPT

A First Performance in New York

In June 2025, the Clipper Stad Amsterdam docked at Pier 17 in New York City. With the Brooklyn Bridge and Manhattan skyline as its backdrop, a small-scale performance offered a first impression of the New Amsterdam Concert in an international setting. That evening demonstrated how music, water, and city can come together beyond Amsterdam.
